Our Life Purpose
Sunday, October 12th, 2008Many of us know what our life purpose is, but it is up to us to fullfill it. Choosing to say,”yes” to your desired destiny is a decision that you make when you take action to make that choice your reality. There are the actions that must be taken before your destiny can truly manefest. You must take responsibility for your intentions and begin action with pure determined intention as well. You begin to follow your instincts and intuition as well as recognizing opportunities that are presented to you. You begin to recognize the decisions that do not serve your best interest and set them aside.Every creative act is an opportunity to bring you closer to your goals.
If you can remember that creating your own destiny is a choice. You will choose to have a positive outlook as you are manefesting your goals. It is empowering to know that you are choosing to free yourself from obstacles and challenges along the way.
You then look at life as an adventure. When stumbling blocks appear you view them as challenges along the way and you go with the flow of those challenging times. You are choosing your life’s purpose because you want to do this not because you have to do this and that is what makes all the difference…
True Selfless Service To Others
Sunday, October 12th, 2008You may have thought for a long time about doing some community service and helping others. However, you might seem that you can never make the time or put out the effort to do so. The fact that you have the thought of helping others is a good start.Everything begins with thought. Your thoughts of compassion toward others expand greatly with your actions.
Selfless service is a way of your giving to others in a pure and unselfish way. Volunteering for some type of community service for a teen organization, or a senior center or any organization that needs you is a way to begin.
True selfless service is giving without expectation of anything in return. You release any expectations. Whatever arises is totally accepted. In true selfless service you let go of your needs. You are just guided by your own spririt of generosity. As you purely give from your heart, your inner knowing tells you that you learn so much from others.
Grief
Thursday, October 9th, 2008The loss of anything we cherish can be overwhelming and heartbreaking for us. A large space that was filled in our lives becomes an empty abyss. The pain and void as well as feelings of separation and incompleteness can be in some cases too much to bear. While it is important to honor what we lost sometimes a loss can represent a new beginning. The Chinese word for ending is beginning… That is an interesting thing to ponder…
If you are seeking the good in a bad or horrific situation remember that you are not devaluaing what you have lost. You can never replace that! You are just surrendering to what life has offered you. You are surrendering to the fact that sometimes you have to let go and allow what is new to enter into the open spaces created by your losses. It is not easy but worth the effort and with the proper help you can not only honor what has left but create a new space in your heart. In this new space you welcome the new into your life with open thoughts, open heart, and a welcoming mind…
Stay Close With Your Friends
Tuesday, October 7th, 2008You know that as a good friend you want to be there for your friends. You intuitively know when to give them a hug or perhaps a helping hand. Being a good friend means being there when needed and giving support when there are setbacks in your friend’s lives. It is just as important to share the joys and milestones in our friend’s lives.
Who else but good friends and close family could share the happy times with us? Who else could make these times more joyous than our close friends and family? Who else can enhance our happiness? It is important to take time out of our busy schedules to join those we care about and share their happy times. Success and happiness could feel empty without sharing these moments. What fun it is to share in our victory dances with our friends.
Taking the time out of our busy schedules to honor our friend’s happy moments is a wonderful way to show them how much they mean to us. The next time that your friend asks you to be there at some special event, realize how honored you should be. The very act of asking you means that they think the world of you and want you with them to share their special moments. Sharing friendship and happiness is one of the joys in this life.
Joy’s Morning Stretch
Sunday, October 5th, 2008It is important to stretch after a long night’s sleep. Your muscles can get cramped or tighten up during the night. By stretching you lengthen your muscles and prevent fatigue. The morning stretch has a powerful effect on your physical and emotional system. It is a wonderful way to greet the day!
Interlock your fingers
Stretch your arms straight above your head as you inhale
Brings your arms down as you exhale
Tighten your rear muscles and put your hands on the small of your back
Carefully arch backward
Slowly come up
With your arms stretched out overhead and your palms facing forward slowly bend forward as you wrap each hand around your opposite elbow and allow your head to dangle
Ease down further as you inhale and exhale
Slowly lift your body to original position
Stand with your feet apart and toes pointing outward
Place your hands on your waist and twist your torso from side to side
Come back to original position

Yoga Benefits- Balasana
Sunday, October 5th, 2008Balasana suggests bowing or offering up all parts of yourself. In the West bowing is considered demeaning. However, in its original meaning this posture was considered to be an act of dignity. It expresses honoring all that is pure in the human condition. Inherent in the meaning of this posture is an attitude of devotion that is greater than the human condition.
This pose is a forward bend where your attention is drawn inward. Your eyes close and your forehead comes down as you do this posture. Your outer awareness turns inward toward your chest and you make contact with your heart center.
This is how you practice Balasana:
Come on your hands and your knees
Separate your knees wider than your hips
Keep your hips as low as possible as you walk your hands forward so that they stand out straight
Separate your fingers and let your hands touch the floor
Your head is facing downward
Inhale and exhale in this position ten times
Use your hands to slowly lift yourself up to original position
