Find Work That Nurtures Your Soul

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

It is so important to search for our heart’s longing and to be able to feel great satisfaction in the work that we are doing.
In the Zen tradition work is a integral part of the monk’s life. It is as important as their prayers and meditation practice,,
Whether or not we do our work with total mindfulness, it is important to realize that our work affects our soul in profound ways.
Where we feel that there is no artfulness in our work there is a weakening of our soul. We need to feel a grounding and humaness in our work that not only feeds our brain but our hearts as well.

The more deeply that our work stirs our imaginings, the more deeply it will stir our souls., awaken them and satisfy the very root of our being. We craft ourselves and individuate ourselves through our work.
When the soul is involved in our works it is not carried out by our egos alone. Our works then come from a deeper
place that is rooted in passion spontaneity and grace. Finding the right work is like discovering your own soul in this world…

Don’t Worry Be Happy

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

If you realize that nothing really lasts in this life it brings a new perspective to your thinking processes. The realization that happiness is fleeting and so is saddness can help you in your daily responses to life’s challenges. This understanding can be of help in making wiser responses to issues that appear.

There is extra pain in the mind when one hangs on by thought to those thoughts that are damaging to living in the now. There is great pain caused by attaching to those thoughts based on sad circumstances that are true. By struggling with these thoughts and clinging to them instead of accomodating to life’s circumstances , great pain can be endured. The mind free of tension is
soft. It is malleable. It uses the wisdom of insight to asborb shocks and retain its ease in all circumstances.

Peace of heart and a noble existence are not dependent on external things and circumstances. By practicing mindfulness, comes
a clear and balanced understanding of living.
